‘Europe has a unique opportunity to reform research assessment’

Commission-led reform agreement can bring researchers and governments together, meeting told

Europe has a “unique” opportunity to reform how it assesses research because the desires of its governments and researchers are aligned on the need for change, according to a senior figure in the European University Association.

With complaints about how researchers and research are assessed mounting globally, the European Commission has coordinated the development of an agreement to change systems across the continent that has already attracted signatures from over 50 groups.
