Younger generations need attractive research careers and the chance to shine, research commissioner says
A revamp of research assessment being coordinated by the European Commission should open up opportunities for young researchers, protect them and make research an attractive career choice for them, the EU’s research commissioner has said.
“We should avoid putting young generations in a vulnerable position,” Mariya Gabriel (pictured) said at the virtual Open Science European Conference on 4 February. “If the assessment system is to be reformed, it should have a positive impact on the quality of research and should improve the attractiveness of careers for researchers and their accessibility.”
