Higher education representatives praise EU push for more university collaboration by “all appropriate means”

EU ministers’ plans to support increased cooperation among higher education institutions, including through the use of “all appropriate and relevant means”, have been welcomed by the academic sector.

Texts adopted by education ministers at a meeting of the Council of the EU on 5 April (pictured) warned that global demographic trends and globalis-ation would “challenge Europe’s position as a prominent hub of knowledge creation”. They said more transnational cooperation among universities was needed to help mitigate this challenge.
