Emerging Coara national groups push for a ‘real culture change’

National chapters of Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment say they are “essential” to reform

The growing number of national chapters of the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment are seeking to drive “real culture change” in research in their countries, representatives of the groups have said. They added that the chapters are “essential” to the movement’s push for reform. 

Coara was established in December 2022 to help implement an EU-led voluntary agreement on making research assessment fairer and more reflective of the diversity of research roles, including by making more use of qualitative methods and cutting the inappropriate use of quantitative metrics.
