Three reports provide recommendations on European Research Area policy agenda

The European Commission has been advised to fund more studies on different aspects of research assessment, to help with the shift to more qualitative forms of assessment.

The advice came in one of three reports for the Commission, published on 16 April, that focus on elements of the European Research Area standards-raising initiative. The other two focus on research skills and the European Universities Initiative, which supports cross-border alliances.
