Back page gossip from the 8 November issue of Research Europe

Navigation problems Long-awaited details of the European Commission’s plans for setting up networks of European universities, including an inter-university campus where students and staff “can move seamlessly” to study and work, have finally been revealed on its website. But anyone who followed a link intended to provide even more detail will have been disappointed. It led to a webpage that read: “OOPS. It looks like you are lost…”

Extra, extra! Businesspeople supported by the EU’s Horizon 2020 R&D programme and its Cosme programme for small businesses came together for the first time at an event last month. It was a momentous occasion, with 40,000 small businesses represented by attendees from various partnership initiatives, according to a write up on the Commission’s website. Few people may have read it, however, due to the less-than-thrilling headline: “Busy partnering event of 50 European cluster partnerships paves the way for future joint cluster initiatives.”
