
With R&D under pressure, research management needs a new era
Becoming carbon neutral by 2050, improving cancer treatment, radically upping battery production: these are just three of the EU’s myriad policy goals that have research at their heart.
The European Commission, of course, is keen for the research sector to see this as positive. As official Julien Guerrier told the annual conference of the European Association of Research Managers and Administrators (Earma) in Oslo last week: “I think we should find comfort in the fact that every time there is a policy initiative, people come to research.”
