Auckland and Otago get top marks for research

The Universities of Auckland and Otago have been allocated more than half the total funding provided through New Zealand’s Performance-Based Research Fund.

The University of Auckland has been allocated 31 per cent of the total PBRF funding, which is around NZ$80 million (€52m). The University of Otago has been allocated 20 per cent, or NZ$53m.

The results were released in an interim report on quality evaluation for the country’s higher education institutions, published by the Tertiary Education Commission on 11 April. It looked at 27 institutions, including the country’s eight universities.
