New Zealand's government has announced plans to establish an innovation park to house small businesses as part of the Christchurch redevelopment programme.
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment will provide 900,000 New Zealand dollars ($703,000) to develop the innovation hub by 2015, the government said in a statement on 29 October. The 3.6-hectare area, located south-east of the city centre, will provide office space to start-up businesses.
“These enterprises will benefit from being located alongside large companies and growth companies such as Vodafone and Kathmandu, supporting agencies such as Callaghan Innovation and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, and the new ICT graduate school,” said science minister Steven Joyce.
