The New Zealand government has increased its target to cut greenhouse gas emissions from heat and steam systems used in food production, air conditioning and sterilisation of medical equipment.
An updated national energy strategy outlines measures to cut process heat emissions by 12 per cent by 2030, which is a further 8 per cent on current efficiency levels.
School and university heating systems, dairy foods processing and steam sterilisation for hospital equipment are among the commercial and industrial uses listed for potential energy savings.
