Trump’s actions ‘will hamper US tech industries’

One of New Zealand’s leading political science academics has described US president Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris climate treaty as “surreal” and misinformed.

Bronwyn Hayward has also warned that Trump’s rejection of the global treaty is likely to affect trade opportunities for US tech companies, such as Tesla.

Hayward is head of the University of Canterbury’s politics department and a lead author with the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change special report on sustainable development, due to be published in 2018.
