Health research strategy ‘needs close monitoring’

A leading policy analyst has warned that New Zealand’s new health research strategy will faces major challenges in its bid to reform the current grants system.

Victoria University of Wellington health services research director, Jacqueline Cumming says the strategy has recognised “a lack of translation of research into policy and practice”.

In an online editorial, Cumming says that implementing the strategy will be difficult and the process will need to be watched closely.
