University education not only improves job prospects for Māori and Pacific Island graduates, but has a positive impact on their families and communities, according to University of Otago research.
A 10-year study tracking the progress of more than 8,700 graduates from all NZ universities has found that increased higher education access for Māori and Pacific Island students would significantly reduce social inequalities in NZ.
The National Centre for Lifecourse Research at Otago found that Māori and Pacific Island graduates had similar rates of employment, incomes, and political engagement to other NZ graduates.
