Dairy intolerance differs from lactose symptoms

University of Auckland research has shown that a bad reaction to dairy foods is a physiological condition distinct from lactose intolerance, and not “all in people’s heads”.

A study led by nutritionist Amber Milan tracked the digestion and metabolism of 30 participants who reported health symptoms that suggested they were either lactose or dairy intolerant.

Announcing details, Milan said that many people “suspect that they have some intolerance to dairy foods, but testing shows they aren’t lactose intolerant”.
