An Auckland start-up company that makes gluten-free flours from fermented fruit and vegetable pulps has received $1.2 million in seed funding from a group of investors in France.
The company, Green Spot Technologies, was started three years ago by University of Auckland academics Silas Villas-Boas and Ninna Granucci (above), who both work with the school of biological sciences.
Villas-Boas is an associate professor of industrial and medical microbiology and Granucci recently completed a PhD in biotechnology at the university.
