New Zealand wants to work closely with its Asia-Pacific neighbours on “intelligent energy” research projects, the country’s energy and resources minister Megan Woods has told a regional meeting.
“As a government, we are excited by the possibilities that come from a clean energy future and a transition away from fossil fuels in our energy system,” she said in a speech to the Asia Pacific Energy Leaders’ Summit in Wellington on 31 October.
“We stand for a just transition towards a low-carbon economy that creates jobs and supports higher living standards. We’ve already set ourselves some ambitious targets in these areas.”
