A lack of long-term ecological research has left “fundamental gaps” in national data on land use changes and threats to biodiversity, according to a New Zealand government report.
The report, Our Land 2018, was compiled by the Ministry for the Environment and Statistics NZ and published on 19 April.
It says that a lack of research data means that “while we can talk generally about land use, we are not able to report in a detailed way” on the scale and impact of environmental pressures.
