Treat sugar industry as a public health threat, says researcher

One of New Zealand’s top health and nutrition researchers has called for a ban on sports sponsorship by manufacturers of sugary drinks and an end to government subsidies for sugar cane crops.

He has also warned against NZ universities accepting research funds from companies with “vested interests” related to the sugar industry.
