Massey research to help army change culture for women officers

PhD thesis on unwelcoming environment for women prompts personal response from army chief

New Zealand’s army is using the findings of a Massey University doctoral thesis to improve respect and working conditions for women officers.

Ellen Nelson, a former NZ army officer, recently completed her PhD with the university’s business school. She interviewed 20 women officers who had left the army and discussed the challenges they had experienced.
