Government agencies in Australia and New Zealand are collaborating on a review of research classifications and have published a discussion paper for public comment.
The review, which was announced in 2018, follows concerns that the Australian and New Zealand Standard Research Classifications need to be updated to reflect changes in research trends. These concerns include “a lack of visibility” for research involving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander studies, as well as Māori and Pacific Islands research.
“One of the aims of the review is to ensure that ANZSRC reflects current practice and is sufficiently robust to allow for long-term data analysis,” the discussion paper says.
