Wine industry willing to back Victoria University tech startup

An instrument that can analyse cloudy liquids more accurately and quickly than common spectroscopy methods has been developed by chemical scientists at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand.

The technology, called CloudSpec, has applications for NZ’s wine, beer and dairy industries and could also be used for environmental testing of wastewater.

Brendan Darby and Matthias Meyer from the university’s school of chemical and physical sciences are working with two major wineries in NZ and Australia that are interested in using the technology.
