Reforms aim to ‘rip racism out’ of NZ schools

New Zealand’s government has announced a $42-million reform package to tackle racism in the country’s education system.

“We know that the education system has underserved Māori learners for a long time,” associate education minister Kelvin Davis (above right) told a meeting in Wellington on 10 June.

“We know racism exists in our education system. We now have a plan to rip it out and transform the learning experiences of our Māori students.”
