Age-friendly policies in NZ ‘must include rural residents’

New Zealand must expand its age-friendly environment initiatives to include the needs and experiences of old people living in small rural communities, a leading Auckland academic has said.

Stephen Neville, head of the department of nursing at Auckland University of Technology, led a study that looked at how NZ rural residents over 85 could remain socially active.

The findings are published in the International Journal of Qualitative Studies on Health and Wellbeing.
