Ardern asks minister to consult NZ universities over coronavirus

Institutions to be flexible around start dates as travel from mainland China is temporarily halted

New Zealand has imposed a temporary entry ban on people arriving from mainland China as part of measures to protect the country and its Pacific Island neighbours from the contagious and potentially deadly coronavirus.

Prime minister Jacinda Ardern has also directed education minister Chris Hipkins to talk to universities and training colleges about ways to minimise the economic impact on NZ’s higher education providers.
