A $51.6 million package announced by the New Zealand government this week to support international education in the country is a sticking plaster over the financial problems created by Covid-19, according to Universities New Zealand.

Amid mounting concern over the future of many academic institutions due to a drop in international students, the government has released a long-term strategic recovery plan.
