Chief scientific adviser calls for better cooperation between New Zealand’s researchers and commercial fishers

New Zealand’s chief scientific adviser has recommended that the country should aim for a 100 per cent sustainable fishing industry by 2040.

Juliet Gerrard’s advice came in a national fisheries management plan drawn up by an advisory panel of scientists and industry figures after the prime minister’s office asked for science-based advice on the industry.
