Science association calls on Waikato to cancel staff cuts

New Zealand risks “being left behind intellectually and economically” if science capability is lost

The New Zealand Association of Scientists has called on the University of Waikato to reverse a decision to shed staff from its school of science.

In a statement from the NZAS on 26 March, past president Craig Stevens said the cuts were “an alarming example of the severity of stress in the nation’s science sector”.
