Evidence portfolios defined in revamp of New Zealand’s national research assessment exercise

Consultation has opened on a key aspect of New Zealand’s Performance-Based Research Fund, which distributes funding to higher education institutions based partly on rankings of research quality and number of degrees completed.

On 30 September, the Tertiary Education Commission published a consultation paper on assessment criteria. The paper is the latest in a series of consultations on the final form of the PBRF assessment exercise, the next round of which is expected in 2026. The most recent round was in 2018.
