Postgraduate scholarships have “stagnated” in New Zealand, with significant effects on who can study
Scholarship rates for master’s and PhD students have “stagnated” in New Zealand, and “the length of scholarship awards often falls short of the median time it takes to complete a graduate degree”, a study has found.
The study, published on 24 March in the New Zealand Journal of Educational Studies, says that low pay rates and high expectations of postgraduate work are excluding some people.
