Researcher says paper suggesting “sampling bias” in New Zealand Covid studies must not minimise risks

A leading New Zealand medical scientist has challenged the findings of a paper on so-called ‘long Covid’, published by an international team of researchers.

The study, published in the journal BMJ Evidence-Based Medicine, was produced by Vinay Prasad of the University of California, San Francisco, along with colleagues in the UK and Denmark. It claimed that the severity and prevalence of the condition was overstated in previous published studies and that they lacked the necessary control groups.
