New Zealand announces cooperation programme prompted by biosecurity concerns

Massey University is to help train veterinary students from Fiji in a biosecurity and food security push for the region.

Meka Whaitiri, New Zealand’s associate minister for agriculture, announced at a meeting of Pacific ministers in Fiji on 10 March that New Zealand would support a Pacific cooperation programme on regional issues including border security, surveillance of diseases and increasing veterinary capacity.
