NZ budget ‘contains good ideas but path forward is unclear’

                     

Sector lauds intent but says real action on research is yet to be seen

New Zealand’s budget on 18 May had some big-ticket items for science and research, but the sector is still looking for an overall vision.

The New Zealand Association of Scientists said that “there is no clear financial pathway signalled to support the major reforms developed over two years and signalled in December’s Future Pathways white paper”.
