New Zealand must take control of its data, Royal Society warns

Concerns raised over offshore storage and limited Indigenous sovereignty

Technology and practice need to keep up with new ideas about data sovereignty, the Royal Society Te Apārangi has said.

A report released by the New Zealand society in December says the control of data is emerging as a key issue as “data has become hugely valuable and a source of power”.
