New Zealand researchers reignite debate over mātauranga Māori

Rejection of Indigenous knowledge is “not a scientifically defensible position”, two New Zealand researchers have said.

In a paper published in the journal Science on 8 February, Lincoln University scientist Amanda Black and University of Canterbury biologist Jason Tylianakis say that “conflict has grown around Indigenous knowledge in education policy”.
