Letter to NZ science minister Judith Collins says support for research communication can boost policymaking

Leading science communicators in New Zealand have asked science minister Judith Collins to improve how research is used in policy creation.

Communication failures can lead to “erosion of public trust” and “poor return on research investment” if research findings are underused, the Science Communicators Association of New Zealand said. It called for funding to be dedicated to mission-led science communication, enabling this to happen throughout a research project rather than just after it ends.
