Compliance with animal ‘openness agreement’ increases

Annual report from New Zealand council shows incremental gains in transparency

New Zealand’s research sector has increased its compliance with a national “openness agreement” on the use of animals in research, according to a report.

On 8 March, the Australian and New Zealand Council for the Care of Animals in Research and Teaching published a 2023 annual report for the openness agreement in New Zealand. It says that rates of providing information to the public, access to animal facilities and discussion of animal research have increased.
