New Zealand water research ‘needs fivefold funding increase’

Data collection on water quality suffers from lack of funding, say scientists and environment commissioner

Funding needs to increase “fivefold” to adequately monitor water quality in New Zealand, according to the Our Land and Water National Science Challenge.

In a paper published in the open-access journal Scientific Reports in January, researchers said there was not enough collection of data on water quality, leading to difficulty establishing changes in quality.
