Immigration curbs ‘still threatening science’

The government has forgotten the warning that curbs on immigration could damage UK science and engineering, prominent researchers have said in a letter to The Times.

Despite concessions made on immigration for science, the proposed end of the right of migrants to settle in the UK would effectively force the vast majority to leave the country after five years, jeopardising the UK’s position, says the letter, published on 11 November.
