John Womersley, head of science programmes at the Science and Technology Facilities Council, took over as the council’s chief executive on 1 November. His predecessor Keith Mason, left the position five months ahead of schedule. Mason will see out the rest of his term as an adviser to the UK Space Agency until 31 March.
