The Wellcome Trust, the Medical Research Council and partners including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation have launched an international consortium of more than 20 hospital-based clinical research networks to ensure researchers around the world are more ready to tackle pandemics. As well as conducting clinical research, the International Severe Acute Respiratory Infection Consortium will develop protocols and data-sharing processes.
