Leeds researchers win engineering ‘grand prix’

A research team from the University of Leeds has won the grand prix of the Engineer magazine’s 2011 technology and innovation awards.

The team co-designed and tested a new cryogenic energy-storage system, which takes in surplus electricity during off-peak hours and uses it to help produce a cryogen or liquefied gas.
