Home Office chief science adviser defends his position

Bernard Silverman, chief scientific adviser to the Home Office, has rebutted concerns about his effectiveness following the revelation that he had no input in the Home Office board meeting’s decision to close the Forensic Science Service. Silverman told the Commons Home Affairs Select Committee on 5 July that it should not be mandatory for CSAs to be on departments’ boards.
