In the Beeb we trust

This week saw the BBC’s coverage of science carefully scrutinised by geneticist Steve Jones and then reported on as being all round fab, if a little hard on climate scientists. Ironically, most media outlets missed the message that too many journalists rely on press releases—maybe because they wrote their story from the BBC’s press release, which omitted this fact.
