Welsh vice-chancellors back merger plans

Higher Education Wales—which represents the vice-chancellors of Wales’ 12 universities—says it will cooperate with proposals to halve the number of Welsh institutions.

According to the BBC, the group, affiliated to Universities UK, has said it agrees with plans put forward by the minister for education and skills, Leighton Andrews, for “fewer but stronger” universities in Wales.
