University cash incentives for top A-level students

English universities will offer cut-price courses and cash handouts to the highest achieving A-level students, irrespective of their financial background, The Sunday Times reported on 31 July.

The announcement was made in the newspaper’s interview with Steve Smith, departing president of the vice-chancellors’ umbrella group, Universities UK, and vice-chancellor of Exeter University.
