Minister rejects peers’ FOI concerns

Home Office minister Oliver Eden has rejected a proposal to exempt universities from having to release unpublished research data in response to Freedom of Information Act requests.

Eden said there was “little evidence” to support the claim that existing exemptions do not go far enough to protect the interests of public research, following a debate in the House of Lords on 12 January.
