Minister unveils plans, but no support, for private science university

UK science minister David Willetts has called on investors to set up a new type of privately funded university focused on science and technology disciplines and on postgraduate training.

Speaking on 4 January, Willetts said he plans to make the UK the best place in the world to do science by building on the strengths of the university system to create greater diversity by exploring different institutional structures.
