Infrastructure projects get £200m boost

Chancellor George Osborne has announced £200 million for the UK Research Partnership Investment Fund, which provides capital funding for university research facilities. The scheme, managed by the Higher Education Funding Council for England, was launched in the 2012 budget with an initial government investment of £100m. The Treasury estimates that extra investment will lead to at least £1 billion in extra cash for universities.
