Vertical take-off aircraft receives engineering heritage award

The Institution of Mechanical Engineers has given an Engineering Heritage Award to the first British vertical take-off aircraft—the 76th award since the scheme began in 1984, and the first to be given to Northern Ireland.

The awards recognise important engineering artefacts, sites and landmarks. Past winners include Tower Bridge and the E-Type Jaguar.
