Scottish knowledge exchange plans fall flat

A Scottish Funding Council consultation on streamlining knowledge exchange services has been criticised for focusing on areas that already work well.

In 2011, Michael Russell, Scotland’s education secretary, proposed establishing a single knowledge exchange office as a way to make working with businesses simpler. But, responses to the council’s consultation on the subject say the strong focus on the role of universities in boosting knowledge exchange is misguided, and that focusing on businesses would be more useful.
